Complete Reward Design
The Challenge
This water company’s existing reward plan had been in place for nearly 14 years and, although very generous for the employees, it didn’t encourage strong performance or provide cost effectiveness for the business. Our interim was engaged to deliver a fit-for-purpose reward structure for nearly 3,300 employees in a unionised environment.
THE DELIVERY
Our interim designed and proposed a range of new options covering pay and benefits for the pay deal negotiations. Often complex and emotive, the interim undertook extensive engagement with employees and unions to reach a set of feasible and agreeable options.
THE OUTCOME
New job family pay structure designed to replace the original banding of roles, including holiday trading. Commitment gained to develop a new ‘pay for performance’ approach to be delivered over the next 2 years. This approach is currently being implemented to drive better pay management through improved internal and market alignment of roles.
